1995 First attempt at the lower section at high water by a Roanoke crew (Ricky Showalter, Joey Beck, and Randy Boush along with Greg Gill from Charlottesville - resulted in total destruction of the party literally within ¼ mile Blood and a broken finger. ("the water was so high that day ... the road that goes along the Tye River was completely flooded and so was the fields to each side of the road, it looked like a lake and so after we could not make it to the put in of the North and South Fork of the Tye we decided to look for water somewhere else (thank God). We found it and it had to have been one of the wildest rides I have ever had... even if it was short!")
